DIAMOND PATCH – 80" x 90" – August 2000

Designed, pieced and quilted by Annis Clapp.

The idea for this quilt came on July 31, 2000. I was trying to come up with designs that didn’t require any matching points. Three weeks later I had a finished quilt which took only 40 hours to complete. Then over the next year I made many lap quilts using this same technique with different designs which I eventually gave away or sold. I experimented with different finishing techniques to see what worked best for me. I also designed and made some wall hangings during this time using a variety of pieced blocks while learning different piecing techniques. Then I discovered rag quilting which changed the course of my life.

Although these first quilts never made it into a pattern book, I still have the instructions and may offer some of them as free patterns in the future. The rectangles on this quilt measure 3" x 2" finished.
